Flat Belts

Flat Belts

A flat belt is a type of power transmission belt that is flat and made of rubber, synthetic composites, or leather that is used to transfer rotational power in industrial equipment and conveyor systems. Their rectangular cross-section characterizes them, with a width much more significant than their thickness. They are looped around the pulleys, and power is transmitted through frictional forces between the belt and the pulley surfaces. The belt is usually tensioned by adjusting the position of one of the pulleys to maintain proper tension and prevent slippage.

Additionally, they are limited in the amount of power they can transmit compared to other belt types, such as V-belts or timing belts, which have different cross-sectional shapes. Flat belts are well-suited for conveyors, agricultural machinery, printing machines, textile machinery, and power tools.
