The Jaw In-Shear Coupling serves as a fail-safe mechanism, effectively acting as a fuse to prevent equipment damage in cases of torque overloads. Unlike conventional couplings where the spider is compressed between interlocked jaws of each hub, our In-Shear coupling separates the hubs, aligning the jaws axially. This setup places the broader spider in a shear plane.

What sets the Jaw In-Shear Spider apart is its radial removability, eliminating the need to reposition either the hub (or the driver/driven equipment) for spider replacement. This not only saves time but also reduces maintenance costs. The retaining ring surrounding the In-Shear Spider features six small pins that effortlessly slide along the spider's perimeter and securely lock into place, ensuring it remains in position without the risk of coming loose. Since no fasteners are involved, spider maintenance and replacement take only a few minutes.

Lovejoy's In-Shear Spider is compatible with their industry-standard L-Type and C-Type Jaw Coupling hubs, offering the added convenience of not needing to stock different hubs exclusively for this new elastomer design. For existing applications utilizing in-compression spiders, retrofitting with the new In-Shear Spider is a straightforward process if the advantages are desirable.

The Jaw In-Shear Spider is constructed from a robust Urethane formula, delivering an optimal balance of durability, chemical resistance, temperature tolerance, and torsional flexibility. The hubs it pairs with can accommodate a maximum bore of 4.00 inches (102mm).
