Magnatrol Type “KR” Full Port Stainless Steel Solenoid Valve

The KR” type Reduced Port is a normally open stainless steel solenoid valve with 1/2” to 3” pipe sizes. The fluid temperature is from -350°F to 400°F, and the maximum static pressure is 300 PSI.

They are designed to control the flow of corrosive fluids, deionized water, condensate, ammonia, vegetable oils, fuel oils, Cryogenics, and flammable liquids. Cryogenic fluids include liquid oxygen (-297°F), liquid argon (-303°F), and liquid nitrogen (-320°F). The solenoid valve operates from zero to the maximum differential pressure range specified in the catalog. This solenoid valve must be mounted in a horizontal pipe with a solenoid enclosure vertical and on top.

Operation

The valve closes when energized and opens when de-energized. When the coil is energized the plunger presses the poppet, closing the pilot opening, and opens a bleed passageway to permit pressure to build above the piston and seat it. After de-energizing the coil, the pilot orifice is opened, relieving the pressure above the piston and allowing it to leave its seat. The bottom spring allows the valve to operate at zero pressure drop.
