Mayr ROBA-alphastop Brakes

The ROBA-alphastop is an electromagnetic safety brake that operates using a quiescent current.

This brake can be easily incorporated into an existing design without any need for modification, fitting between the servomotor and the bell housing.

In its inactive state, coil springs exert pressure on the armature disk, which securely holds the rotor between the armature disk and the flange plate. The toothed hub effectively applies the brake to the shaft.

Upon activating the current, a magnetic field is generated, causing the armature disk to move against the spring's resistance toward the coil carrier. This action releases the brake, allowing the shaft to rotate freely.
