Mayr ROBA-stop-stage Brakes

The ROBA-stop-stage is an electromagnetic dual-circuit spring-applied brake designed for use as a holding brake with occasional emergency braking.

In the de-energized state, multiple compression springs exert pressure on two armature discs, securely holding the rotors between these discs and an intermediate disc. The resulting braking torque is transmitted into the drive train through the teeth of the rotors and the hub.

Applying voltage to the coils in the coil carriers generates a magnetic force, which pulls the armature discs towards the coil carriers against the spring pressure. This action releases the brake, allowing the rotors with the hub to rotate freely.

Upon de-energizing the voltage, in the event of a power failure or an emergency stop, the ROBA-stop-stage brakes operate reliably and safely.
