Mayr ROBA-twinstop Brakes
ROBA-twinstop are spring-applied, electromagnetic brakes that consist of two independent brake circuits in one compact brake block.
When not powered, the compression springs exert pressure on the armature disks, effectively trapping the rotor, equipped with friction linings, between the armature disks and the machine's screw mounting surface. As a result, the motor shaft is brought to a halt thanks to the rotor's action.
When an electrical current is applied, the magnetic force generated by the coils within the coil carrier draws the armature disks away from the spring's pressure, allowing the brake to disengage, and permitting the motor shaft to rotate freely.
